Year 5 Weekly Reminders - 3.3.25

G Woods

What a busy first week back! We have had a lovely week starting our new English unit filled with Orangutans and persuasion. We are working hard on our multiplication and division in Maths. Next week, we have World Book Day to look forward to!

We also want to say a massive well done to our cross country stars. No matter the outcome, you spent the day in the pouring rain representing our school and we are very proud of you!

Spellings for 7.3.25 - words containing 'ough':

although, bough, dough, doughnut, enough, plough, rough, though, tough, toughen - assignment and games on Spelling Shed to help you practise.

Doodle Homework:

English - Indicating degrees of possibility using modal verbs for example, might, should, will, must

Maths - Use short division: three digits by one digit, with remainders.

Reading:

We really want to challenge each child to read 4 times over the next week. We are not seeing this on Boomreader. Reading with your children is so important - even if you think they can 'read'. Reading is about so much more. Discussion about the books, answering questions, understanding new vocabulary, being fluent and expressive. We really try to read with the children as much as possible but our curriculums are so packed, we really rely on your support with reading at home. Please try to read and log it on Boomreader this week. Thank you!

Next Week:

Monday - PE (Badminton and Football)

Tuesday - Mrs Oxby teaching Willows (whilst Mrs Woods travels to London for a course on Building Greater Depth Writers).

Thursday - World Book Day - see the parent letter sent previously on Whole School Notifications, Writing Tuition club (invite only)

Friday - Greensward DT Challenge Day (invite only)
