November 15th - Westerings to host an International Day of Action against plastic pollution!

adillnutt

On November 15th, Westerings will be acting as the 'beacon school' for the whole country in an international day of action against plastic pollution. We will be taking the baton from Greece and passing it to Barbados!

There is nothing that families have to do outside of school, we just wanted to inform you of the exciting events which will be taking place in school on this day.

Here's a note from the organisation Common Seas to explain further:

"We’re thrilled to announce our first-ever Plastic Clever Schools International Day of Action! This exciting event will bring together schools around the world – creating a united movement for a healthier, more resilient planet.

Created by Common Seas and Kids Against Plastic, Plastic Clever Schools is an award to reduce waste with kids at the heart of the action. With just three simple but powerful stages – Inspire, Investigate, and Act – we help children lead the way to stopping the flow of plastic pollution in their school, their community and their future.

On this International Day of Action, you and your students will kick-start your journey, taking on challenges from stages one and two of achieving the award. You’ll have lots of support, with exciting assemblies, workshops and competitions across the day. We’ll have incredible hosts, great prizes and opportunities to celebrate your inspirational work with an international community of Plastic Clever Schools."
